Open Letter: Investing in Europe’s Next Generation by Investing in Culture

IAML has signed the open letter "Investing in Europe’s next generation by investing in culture".  This statement was initiated by a number of organisations including IMPALA (Independent Music Companies Association), the European Booksellers Federation and others; the European Music Council (EMC) was consulted on this paper.

The letter calls on EU Member States and the European Parliament to invest in culture to show the EU’s #NextGeneration that we really care about their future.

  • To push for a substantial increase of the Creative Europe budget. We fully support the European Parliament’s proposal for a budget of €2.8bn.
  • To guarantee that the entire sector can benefit appropriately from the recovery plan’s various instruments.

The letter was sent on 18 June 2020 to Ministers of Culture, Ministers of Finance, MEPs, Commissioners and their services when relevant.
