The Public Libraries Section (PLS) is one of the five Institutional Sections in the IAML organisation.
The purpose of the PLS is to improve communication about music library work in Public Libraries around the world.
It is important to learn about each others views and experiences. As Section we would also be able to grow and mature as international Section . In order to achieve that we organise a Work meeting at each IAML conference that is open to all librarians in Public libraries attending the conference.
Officers for the Section are nominated each 3 years at the annual conference. The officers organise and present the activities for the Section, including the yearly sessions at a IAML conference and other activities during the year.

The “IAML Toolbox”
Independent from the annual conferences, which only a few of us are able to attend, we like to be more visible to all our colleagues around the world and improve their participation too.
That's why we have started the IAML Toolbox, as an interactive centre for communication for all of us, a way to exchange our knowledge and present projects undertaken elsewhere, that may be of interest to all. All our colleagues can participate and share their competences in the IAML Toolbox.
At this moment we ask for cooperation for the research project on music librarians' education by Mari Itoh (Japan), and the ‘LOOK-a-LIKE-LIBRARY-LOCATOR’ by Hanneke Kuiper (The Netherlands). This project is meant as a first step to make it possible to share your questions, information and ideas with a possible look-a-like library, without having met the colleague involved.
Are you interested? Please contact the officers!
