The International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML) is pleased to announce the call for papers and posters for the IAML Congress to be held at the National Library of Latvia, Riga, 18-22 June 2017.
Magnetic tape replay equipment is fading out. Today’s knowledge of the linguistic and cultural diversity of humanity is widely based on magnetic tape recordings produced over the past 60 years. Magnetic audio and video tape formats are now obsolete. Spare parts supply and service is fading, replay equipment in operable condition is disappearing rapidly, and routine transfer of magnetic tape documents is estimated to end around 2025. The only way to preserve these sounds and images in the long term, and to keep them accessible for future generations, is their digitisation and transfer to safe digital repositories.
IAML is delighted to announce the establishment of the H. Robert Cohen/RIPM Fund for IAML Congress Travel.
This is the second fund established by The Cohen Family Charitable Fund to support travel to IAML congresses for librarians attending their first or second congress. The new fund complements the Liesbeth Hoedemaeker-Cohen Fund for IAML Congress Travel, established in 2017.
The elections for a new IAML Board have now been terminated and a new board has been elected.
The elections were for President with a six-year term (one year as president-elect, three years as president, and two years as past president) and for four vice-presidents with a term of three years each.
The new IAML Board will take up office after the 2019 General Assembly in Kraków.
