World Intellectual Property (IP) Day is celebrated every year on 26 April, under the auspice of the WIPO, The World Intellectual Property Organisation. This year the theme of the day will be “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP”. You can read more about it here: https://www.wipo.int/en/web/ipday/2025/index

In connection with this IFLA is organising a webinar in collaboration with IAML to 1) underline to the wider music and IP world that libraries are a key part of the wider music ecosystem and 2) make specific points about the sorts of copyright laws that we need in order to be able to collect, preserve and give access to music.

We have now found some excellent presenters and panelists for a webinar that will take place on the day before World IP Day (since that day is actually on a Saturday this year).

The webinar will be hosted by Stephen Wyber, Director of External Affairs at IFLA, and the title is “Keep the music playing: Libraries, music and intellectual property”. It will take place on Friday 25th of April at 14:30 CEST.

Speakers, all from IAML, will be:

Carla Williams, Ohio University Libraries, United States

Chuck Peters, William and Gayle Cook Music Library, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, United States

Enrique Montfort Sanchez, Palau de la Música de València, Spain

Eva Neumayr, Archiv der Erzdiözese Salzburg / Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria

Kathleen DeLaurenti, Arthur Friedheim Library, United States

Niels Mark, Odense City Libraries, Denmark
