The 2019 Awards of the Liesbeth Hoedemaeker-Cohen Fund for IAML Congress Travel

The Awards Committee of the Liesbeth Hoedemaeker-Cohen Fund for IAML Congress Travel is pleased to announce that the winners of the 2019 award are Anna Bilotta from Italy and Catherine Henderson from Canada.

Anna Bilotta is a PhD student in Library and Information Science of Università di Roma–La Sapienza. As a student member of IAML-Italia Anna wants to deepen her knowledge of IAML activities and worldwide initiatives, and share her experience with other professionals. She participates in the FARB project 2017-2020 (Fondo di Ateneo per la ricerca di base) "Le biblioteche musicali italiane: stato dell’arte e prospettive" [The Italian music libraries: current status and prospects]coordinated by Dipartimento di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale of Università degli Studi di Salerno (Italy) in collaboration with IAML-Italia. The first result of the project will be presented during the Congress in Krakow.

Catherine Henderson is a media librarian at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and a music archivist at Matralab, a music research lab at Concordia University in Montreal. She recently graduated with a Masters of Information Studies (2017). Being a musician (flute, piano, and guitar), Catherine wanted to work both with music and archives. She has developed a collaborative database of multimedia research materials for an interdisciplinary and multi-national music research project at Matralab and will present a poster on this topic at the IAML congress.

The Awards Committee recognized Anna’s and Catherine’s professional activity and numerous presentations; each of them is keen to continue her activities in national music library associations as well as IAML.

I am sure that IAML members will join me in congratulating Anna and Catherine on receiving this prestigious Award.

On behalf of the Awards Committee I would like to thank all other candidates for your interest in the Award and for giving us the opportunity to learn about your work and achievements. I hope that you will attend the congress in Krakow and many more IAML congresses to come.

The Liesbeth Hoedemaeker-Cohen Fund for IAML Congress Travel is intended to help support travel to attend the annual congress of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives, and Documentation Centres. IAML is very grateful to the Cohen Family for establishing this fund.
