Sub-commission on Unimarc

The IAML Sub-commission on UNIMARC was founded in 2003 (Tallin) with the aim to revise the UNIMARC format tags concerning music, collaborating with national working groups and sending proposals to the Permanent Unimarc Committee.

Several proposals were sent since then and some have been approved, starting from the 5^th Update of the UNIMARC Manual – Bibliographic Format, 2^nd ed., published in 2005. Notably, a full revision of field 128 Coded Data Field: Form of Musical Work and Key or Mode, and the creation of new fields 036 Music Incipit and 146 Coded Data Field: Medium of Performance (which will be included in the 4^th edition of the UNIMARC Manual) have been completed.

For these two fields IAML has been appointed by IFLA as the maintenance agency of the codes and lists of terms.
