Notes:

Len Bourne's life as newspaper printer and journalist took him to many country towns in Western Australia, from Meekatharra in the Mid West to Collie in the South West. Along that inky way, a joiner and organiser by nature, he was highly involved in the social, sporting, and creative life of these towns. He was stage manager and performer in amateur theatre, and highly involved in musical events of various types, displaying his talent with voice and a variety of musical instruments. His writings in many newspapers display creativity and humour, one side of his personality, while there was another quite different side. In revealing his career and family life, this book offers a glimpse of rural journalism and the social and creative life of rural communities in the first half of the 20th century.
