Update from the Web Team

The Web Team (Gabriele Gamba, Stefanie Hundsberger, Astrid Evasdotter Smith, Jennifer Ward) would like to wish all IAML-members a very happy new year. It is time for us to bring you a little update on our activities. We have been very busy over the last few months working on the general structure of the new website. For this goal we are working together with Swedish web designers in order create a website that is user-friendly as well as functional and pleasant to look at. The web designers delivered first sketches of the skeleton of the new website just before Christmas. All I can tell you is that these sketches look really good, but they will not be visible to members, so I would like to ask you for your continued patience during the next few months. I am sure you will understand that the website will be published when it is completely ready.

In addition to our work on the website we have been very active on the social networks Facebook and Twitter and we would be very happy to see you there as well. IAML has been on Facebook since late August 2013. We post something several times a week, mostly links to posts on the IAML website and other pages which may be of interest to our members. The most popular posts so far are the reports by our General Secretary, Pia Shekhter, from the AIBM conference in Berlin, an "ancient" Christmas plainsong, and the trailer for our upcoming conference in Antwerp. As of January 2014 our page has 63 fans, so if you are on Facebook, please like our page at www.facebook.com/iamlaibm. Please note that you need to have your feed sorted by "Latest" not "Top stories" to ensure you don't miss any of our posts. You don't have to be a member of Facebook to view our page.

IAML's Twitter feed currently has 129 followers and we have tweeted over 225 messages. In addition to reporting IAML activities and news from our partner organisations, we have tried to share articles and announcements that are of interest to IAML members, and we retweet posts from the people and organisations that we follow. Please join us in sharing news from the international music library community! If you are on Twitter, follow or tweet to us @IAML_AIBM. If you are not on Twitter, you can follow us on www.twitter.com/IAML_AIBM. If you have an article or announcement that you want us to tweet (in any language), please send the link to jennifer.ward@rism.info.

Both Facebook and Twitter will be integrated into the new website design. Please also get in touch with us for updates/corrections of details of our national branches and partner organisations as the website is intended as a first port of call for our members.

Best wishes,

The IAML Web Team

Comments

Dear Web Team, Thank you very much for this exciting information. And thank you very much, indeed, for all your hard and devoted work! I can hardly wait (but I promise to try to be patient!) for the launch of the new website. I am convinced that it will be crucial for the Future of IAML, together with Facebook and Twitter. These new fora will facilitate sharing and learning among our members. I also think they will be important from a recruitment point of view.
