IAML(UK & Irl) Outreach
What we do!
Provide assistance to music libraries and archives in economically
disadvantaged countries and, in particular circumstances, to individuals.
How we could do it
Assistance may be by:
- Donations of material.
- Make available guidelines to those wishing to donate materials, e.g. link
to information on the IAML website, or a printout available upon request.
- If a specific request for help is received, supply details, tailored to that
request, having checked the credentials of the applicant.
- Collate information on carriage options.
- Gather volunteers for packing materials for despatch.
- Advice, or suggesting sources of advice on professional matters.
- Approaches for this may come from an institution or an individual.
It is essential to check the credentials of those making the application.
- Help for attendance at IAML(UK & IRL) Branch Annual Study Weekend
- Send details to potential delegates.
- Make available a list of sources of bursaries, grants appropriate to
the occasion.
- For potential delegates to the ASW, the Executive Committee should be
asked if it will be possible to waive the study fee
Comments and queries
- Q. Does the Outreach project committee have funds earmarked for financial
assistance?
- A. For those wishing to donate materials, support may be available from the
IAML Outreach Fund. In the first instance, the Treasurer must be contacted.
Guidelines are on the IAML website.
- Q. How do people apply for financial assistance?
- A. The method of application will vary according to circumstances. It is
essential that people know whom to contact within the group, so any publicity
must include relevant contact details.
Responsibilities of IAML (UK & Irl) Outreach Working Group
- Maintain regular contact with the IAML outreach committee (at least
annually to provide a report on activities)
- Promote the work of the group wherever possible, e.g. at ASW, talks
to students, job fairs, professional meetings
- Forward requests for donations or other assistance to IAML
international outreach group if appropriate.
