Press Release: C.B. Oldman Prize

IAML(UK & Irl) are pleased to announce that the C.B. Oldman Prize has been awarded to Andrew Ashbee, Robert Thompson and Jonathan Wainwright for, The Viola da Gamba Society index of manuscripts containing consort music, Volume 1 (Ashgate, 2001. ISBN 0 7546 0130 7. £49.50).

The volume gives detailed information about over fifty manuscripts and includes brief notes on the owners and copyists, facsimiles of all hands, and a comprehensive illustrated study of watermarks.

Speaking for all the authors when they collected the Prize at the IAML(UK & Irl) Annual Study Weekend, Andrew Ashbee said, "we are all delighted to receive the prize. It has been a gem of a project and wonderful to have the opportunity to work with such a unique and valuable resource. Work has already commenced on a second volume".

The C.B. Oldman prize is an annual award of £200 for an outstanding work of music bibliography, music reference or music librarianship by an author resident in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland. Items are considered the year after they are published for the prize awarded two years after publication.
