Education Officer

The post of IAML(UK & Irl) Education Officer will become vacant in April 2009 when Christopher Cipkin completes his term of office.

This post involves representing the Branch on library and education matters in general, and chairing the Courses & Education Committee. Activities include organising and arranging a wide portfolio of courses, arranging presentations on music librarianship to Departments of Library & Information Science, organising visits and seminars, and contributing to resources and research that support education and professional development in music librarianship. The groundwork for much of the above is complete, and the ongoing work is shared out amongst a most supportive C&E Committee, with help and advice always on hand from colleagues in IAML(UK & Irl) generally. Apart from the satisfaction of being able to contribute actively to our profession, the post offers the chance to develop personal skills that have a much wider application and will enhance any CV.

For more details on the work of Courses and Education, look on the Training page of this website, and/or contact Christopher for an informal discussion on 0118 378 5120. A job description is also available.

The Education Officer is a fully voting member of the Executive Committee, and the Branch reimburses expenses incurred in carrying out the appropriate duties. The maximum term of office is five years. You do need to be, or become, a personal member of IAML(UK & Irl). Please apply by e-mail to the President, Liz Hart, giving details of relevant interests and experience.
