It offers financial support to Branch members who wish to attend IAML's international conferences. Ian very much appreciated the opportunities provided by attendance at these conferences, and it is therefore fitting that the Branch should try to enable deserving members to attend. Please note: The amount awarded will be at the discretion of the Branch Finance & Administration Committee. It is intended to contribute towards the cost of attendance at an international conference and will not normally cover the entire cost of attending. Candidates should be able to demonstrate what benefits would be gained for themselves and their institution by attending the conference. It would normally be expected that the applicant's institution will grant leave to attend the conference. Any letters of institutional support would be welcomed as part of the application. Successful candidates must write a report within four weeks of attending the conference. The Executive Committee reserves the right to publish all or part of the report in the Branch Newsletter. An application form (pdf) should be printed off and sent to the General Secretary. Applications will then be discussed by the Finance & Administration Committee, following which a winner and a reserve will be selected. This will be ratified by the Executive Committee before the successful applicant is informed. The 2008 award was made jointly to: Deborah Lee, Julia Mitford and Geoff Thomason. |
