The Japanese Branch now has 61 individual members and 17 institutional members, namely number of members is decreasing, but the branch has gained some new younger members.

The routine annual activities of the branch include one Annual General Meeting, three Regular Meetings, and the publication of three issues of the Branch Newsletter.

The Annual General Meetings was held at Tokyo Geijyutsu Gekijyo on 19 May, 2007.

On behalf of all the members of the IAML Japan branch, I would like to express my heart-felt gratitude for the friendly communications, inquiries, and messages of encouragement sent to them from IAML members around the world after the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011 and the tsunami which followed it. Fortunately, none of the Japanese members have been reported missing or seriously hurt.Unfortunately, many of their libraries, public or private, suffered serious damage and they have been working hard on recovery.

As of 3 June 2012, the IAML Japan branch has 73 members, of which 58 are individuals and fifteen institutions. On 28 May 2011, the new committee of the IAML Japan began its activities with the following members, who serve three-year terms.

As of June 5th 2010, the number of the IAML Japan members is 73.

The home page for IAML (Japan) (http://www.iaml.jp/) now shows pictures from the IAML Tokyo Conference in 1988. It was done to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the foundation of IAML Japan. One can enjoy a series of conference scenes more than twenty years ago as a slide show. In fact some IAML members have already seen them and sent us warm messages, for which we are very grateful.

The year 2009 commemorates the 30th anniversary of the founding of IAML Japan, and discussions are under way as to how to celebrate it. As of 7 June 2009, the Japanese branch has 79 members, of which 62 are individual ones, including one honorary member, and seventeen institutions. The activities of the branch in 2008 and 2009 have been directed by the same officers since last June (cf. p. 647 of Fontes 55/4).

No. It is not supplemented by case law (judicial precedent).

The Japanese Branch now has 61 individual members and 17 institutional members, namely 5 individual members and 5 institutional members fewer than last year. Because of the economical problems of libraries and the lack of recognition for librarians as experts, librarians in Japan do not work in an very easy situation. But the Japanese Branch expects to get some young, active members soon.
