Fontes Artis Musicae

Fontes artis musicae is the quarterly journal of IAML. The editor is happy to consider for publication articles on any aspect of music librarianship, music bibliography or related musicological research. When submitting material for consideration, contributors are asked to note the following points:

  1. Material may be submitted in any of the three "official" languages of IAML: English, French or German. If accepted for publication, material in English, French or German will be published in the language in which it was submitted. Material in other languages is also welcomed, but will need to be translated into English or French or German before publication.
  2. Material should where possible be submitted in digital format, preferably in a widely-used word-processing format such as Rich Text Format, Microsoft Word or Word Perfect using 12-point type. Footnotes should appear at the bottom of the page of text to which they relate, and text should be double-spaced.
  3. Where images form part of an article they should normally be supplied by the contributor. Contributors should seek the editor's advice concerning payment for copyright permissions or for other fees relating to illustrations, and should not incur expenditure prior to such consultation.
  4. No fee is paid to authors for material published in Fontes. Contributors of articles will, however, receive 10 offprints of their article upon publication.
  5. Material is accepted for consideration at any time. The editor will decide whether to accept a particular contribution, in consultation with advisors where appropriate (while Fontes artis musicae is not formally a "peer review" journal, where contributors wish the peer review process to be followed the editor will attempt to do so). A decision on publication will normally be taken as soon as possible after receipt of a contribution. Material is accepted for publication on the understanding that it has not previously been published elsewhere, including on a website, and is also not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  6. For advice on general matters of style, contributors should consult previous issues of the journal, and consult the editor as required.
