The board 2003-2004:
4 board meetings, 2 meetings for the members, annual meeting.
80 members: 55 institutions, 25 personal members.
Our branch has naturally had one main goal throughout this period; the conference. It represents a lot of work, and it has been present in our minds for a long time. The Chairman of the Board, Inger Johanne Christiansen, the President of the conference, has put in a tremendous amount of work.
There have been others tasks at the agenda. A translation of a manual for music librarians, produced in 1989, is under revision and will be published on the Internet spring 2005.
Our branch has been working intensely with the Oslo University College, Faculty of Journalism, Library and Information Science over the past years with one common goal, to increase the quality and amount of teaching offered within our field. We have had several projects on this topic. This spring we gave a two-day course, Music on the Internet, with Ole Bisbjerg as the main speaker.
We have had several meetings with the Norwegian Library Bureau concerning cataloguing of the music material they offer for sale, as we found the bibliographic material not up to standard. This activity has proved fruitful.
We have put a lot of work into our website, and have now a well functioning site, including an English translation.(http://www.nmbf.musikk.no). The site includes a discussion list, and we have started to publish our newsletter, Stikknoten (The Gracenote), electronically.
Membership-meetings: The composer Arne Nordheim presented his music. The newly established Norwegian Archive, Library and Museum Authority presented their institution.
