Dear IAMLers,

the CMS software that runs www.iaml.info went today through a major update, that goes well beyond the new layout and will make possible in the next months implementing new features for the site. Unfortunately, old userIDs are not valid anymore on this new version, so people will have to create new ones to be able to login again.

We are looking for a conscientious and motivated person to take on the job of doing the subject indexing for Fontes Artis Musicae.  The index is constructed in English and uses the terms and index structure used in the RILM thesaurus, so access to this tool is required.  Examples of previous subject indexes can be found in back issues of Fontes.  The indexing for the first three volumes can be done from either the hard copy or pdfs, whichever is preferred.  Volume 4 must be done from the pdfs, as the index is included with the final volume of the year.

Der tschechische Komponist Petr Eben ist im Alter von 78 Jahren nach langer Krankheit verstorben. Dies teilte Ebens Sohn Marek der tschechischen Nachrichtenagentur CTK mit.

Eben wurde 1929 in Prag geboren. Er studierte Klavier und spaeter auch Violoncello und Orgel in eský Krumlov. Wegen seiner juedischen Herkunft wurde er 1945 in das Konzentrationslager Buchenwald verschleppt. Nach dem Krieg wurde er in die Prager Akademie für Musik aufgenommen, wo er Klavier bei Frantisek Rauch und Komposition bei Pavel Bokovec studierte.
