At the beginning of the year IAML Italia was a guest of the Bergamo Biblioteca Civica Angelo Mai (the most important library for music collections of the Region after the Milan Conservatory library). On the library staff there are three music librarians; among them Marcello Eynard, our Secretary for the last three years and the next three.
In May we had our only joint meeting: the General Assembly in which we had elections (see http://www.iamlitalia.it ). We had few joint meeting but individuals and working groups had many tasks to accomplish. Many of us continued to cooperate with ICCU (Istituto centrale per il catalogo unico delle biblioteche italiane) for the new Guida SBN Musica for printed music, librettos and sound recordings. The guide for cataloguing in the Italian national database is supposed to be published at the end of this year. In October 2005 the Temporary Workers Group held an important meeting on problems connected with temporary work in libraries, archives and museums and the problems for workers and institutions.
The working group on Nineteenth-Century Authors' Libraries and Archives developed a detailed formulary to take a census of these collections.
Our agreement with AIDA to an agency for European certification in Italy for all kinds of documental specialists is continuing.
IAML Conference 2008 in Naples will be our main goal for the next two years.
Members: at the end of 2005 IAML Italia had 167 members: 76 individuals, 91 institutions.
Meetings: Beni culturali e lavoro: un incontro possibile?, was held in Naples at the Conservatorio San Pietro a Maiella on 3 October 2005.
