The aim of the Libraries in Music Institution Branch is to focus on topics of special interest to members working in, for example, conservatories, departments of musicology, universities etc.
The branch usually has two sessions during the annual conference. One of them is often a joint session with another professional branch. For example the first session in Sydney will be held together with the Public Libraries Branch and will deal with the interaction between these two types of libraries.
The second session in Sydney has “Ethnomusicology in Conservatories” as the theme. Other issues recently presented are “Artistic Research”, “Rare Collections in Conservatories” and Bibliography in Conservatories”.
